Frequently Asked Questions
We have tried to answer some of the frequently asked questions regarding the Wide Angle Twin Mag Ophthalmoscope within this section but if you do not find the answer that you were looking for please do not hesitate to contact sales@firstaidwarehouse.co.uk
Can I wear glasses when operating the Wide Angle Twin Mag?
Yes, the Wide Angle Twin Mag features an extendable eyepiece which allows both wearers and non-wearers of spectacle to be able to use it whilst not compromising on the field of view.
What controls are present?
There are a host of controls available with the Wide Angle Twin Mag and these include magnification level switch, choice of aperture, filters, brightness and focusing. All these features are designed to be fingertip controlled therefore you do not have to move position or suffer any loss of view.
How do I switch magnification levels?
The design of the Wide Angle Twin Mag is such that a switch is located within finger reach when using the ophthalmoscope, and this can be toggled during examination. White Xenon light versus Polarised light Many Ophthalmoscopes use polarized light but not the Wide Angle Twin Mag. This is because by using polarized light it can remove the reflexes originating from the retinal tissue and vessels and therefore important diagnostic information may be removed. The Wide Angle Twin Mag therefore uses white Xenon light which eliminates corneal reflex by means of an advanced optical design and therefore leaves in place the beneficial retinal reflexes.
What apertures can I use?
There are numerous aperture settings that are available and these include macular, intermediate, large. Slit, glaucoma and semi-circle.
What batteries are used?
The Wide Angle Twin Mag is available using either a Lithium or NiCad power supply. The Lithium-ion technology aids in providing your Ophthalmoscope with a longer battery life and also ensures that your battery has a fast charge capability.
- Macular (small) Pupils - where other Ophthalmoscopes let you down the Wide Angle Twin Mag provides you with the ability to easily view through undilated pupils.
- Glaucoma - the Wide Angle Twin Mag provides you with the ability to diagnose and monitor Glaucoma through the easy assessment of cup to disc ratio.
- Corneal - Utilising the cobalt blue filter the unique corneal lens allows the examination of corneal pathology and contact lens fitting whilst avoiding degraded images that are usually associated with polarized light.
- Aperture - the Wide Angel Twin Mag features a wide variety of built in apertures providing easy changes from the Macular, Intermediate, Large, Slit, Glaucoma and semi circle features.
- Filters - another additional benefit of the Wide Angle Twin Mag is that it can house both the red free and blue cobalt filters on the large aperture setting
- Filed of View - the Wide Angle Twin Mag allows a field of view which is 10 time greater than the direct ophthalmoscope.
